Gorillaz - "Stylo"
Out on March 5th, 2010, Plastic Beach is the third album of Gorillaz, the "virtual band" project by Damon Albarn , and Jamie Hewlett
The band is composed of four animated band members:
2D (lead vocalist, keyboard),
Murdoc Niccals (bass guitar),
Noodle (lead guitar and occasional vocals)
Russel Hobbs (drums and percussion)
Someone says that Plastic Beach is definitely epic, someone says is crap!
By the way, the album was anticipated by the digital release of the first single "Stylo" on January.
The song is cool, and the video is great! The video has a Bruce Willis cameo.
This song contains a sample of a synth line taken from Time Warp by Eddy Grant (1981).

Riva Starr - "I was drunk"
Who doesn't know Riva Starr ?
Quoting his offcial MySpace page:
"...Riva Starr is a name that should be very familiar to anyone with an interest in modern house music. Having shot to the top after a string of head turning releases and remixes on some of the most talked about labels, Riva Starr couldn’t be hotter right now. What’s quite remarkable though is how quickly Stefano Miele, aka Riva Starr has established himself so prominently on a DJ/producer circuit that’s notoriously difficult to break into. It doesn’t hurt that Claude VonStroke and Jesse Rose, the two men who sit on top of the pile, happen to be two of his biggest fans.
So, how did the man from Naples rise from unknown to major player in just 2 years?
Like all good producers he’s earned his stripes and his current status is down to two things, hard work and talent.
Stef created the term “Snatch!” as a way of describing his bootleg remix style of snatching/pick pocketing other music styles for his own. It’s also a play on words with the type of folk/Balkan/rock music he draws inspiration from, often carrying that gypsy spirit..."
On October 2009 he released If Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade out on Made to Play.
Stef draws inspiration from the Balkan music scene, an area of music that’s always been a personal interest. He shows his depth of knowledge by using the brilliant Noze on ‘I Was Drunk’.
The videoclip uses footage from Black Cat, White Cat by Balkan director Kusturica :
The song also contain a sample taken from No Comment by Beltuner:

Offspring - "Pretty Fly (for a white guy)"
Just a Sample Shot for today...
Do you remember that silly white prunk, hanging around the Orange County blocks acting like an idiot?
Do you remember what his father said him at the beginning of the video?
"...Gunter glieben glauchen globen..."
Watch the Offspring video of Pretty Fly (for a white guy):
The spoken intro part has been taken from Rock of Ages by Def Leppard (1983)!
Check it out:
"...The world needs wannabes
The world loves wannabes
Let's get some more wannabes (hey, hey)
Do that brand new thing..."

Samantha Fu - "Theme from the discoteque"
(Look at the bottom of the album cover and find out where is the dancer's hand slipping through... lol )
"Do you know where your teenager is at 5 o'clock in the morning?
Young people, things have changed
Today the question for parents is, it's 10 am
Do you know where your children are?
Do you know where your teenager is at 5 o'clock in the morning?
Dirty dancing
Some say they're gone looking for drugs
Dirty dancing and pounding techno music"
This was an amazing club hit, released in 2001, and, after a decade, it's still burning down the dancefloor.
The song was produced by a mysterious duo named Samantha Fu.
Today we all know that behind that name there were the outstanding Dewaele brothers, best known as Soulwax later.
David and Stephen Dewaele made "Theme form the Discoteque" for a play called Discoteca by Ghent-based theatre group Kung Fu.
The opening siren sound is taken from King of the Beats by Mantronix:
We can found the same siren sound in Disco Siren by Midfield General
The song produced by Damian Harris was, in fact, released with the collaboration of Xavier De Rosnay (Justice) , playing bass and drums, and then mixed by Soulwax themselves.
We ♥ the Dewaele brothers!

Club Dogo - "Cronache di Resistenza"
Hey hey! Wow!
I just discovered the original music sample used by Club Dogo in Cronache di Resistenza published on MI Fist album, released in 2003.
It was a great album, and this track was a great piece of italian hip-hop music.
The song sampled Giving Up by Gladys Knight and the Pips
an early pre-Motown release written in 1964.
In 2005 this song was sampled also by: Mathematics on "Can I Rise" (feat. Hot Flamez)
and even sampled in a lot of different hip hop tracks: check it out! (Thanks to Ultragraphik.com blog)

Amon Tobin - "Four Ton Mantis"
Today we are going to dig the whole last century...are you ready for this?
Starting with one of the most interesting artist of mid-90's, Amon Tobin, and his Four Ton Mantis, included in Supermodified album in the year 2000.
Genius of noise manipulation and uncompromising musical auteur, he took the concept of sampling to a next level: he didn't just sample old song, in his last albums, such as Foley Room(I personally love "Always") and Chaos Teory - Splinter Cell OST, he created song using audio sample of street and mechanical noise.
This song contains a sample taken from the intro part of (Hall of the) Mad Mountain King by Apollo 100, released in 1971.
Apollo 100's track parody a classical song: In the hall of the Mountain King by the norvegian composer Edvard Grieg written 1876.
And, I don't know why but it reminds me the Inspector Gadget cartoon theme! That's sound crazy!

His Majesty Andre - "Peep Thong"
Hi Samples friends!
We had some problems with the blog but we tried to fix it!
So welcome back!
Let's start the new year with a smashing club track!
Thanks to Ewoud, a WhoSampled.com submitter, today we are talking about Peep Thong by His Majesty Andre, released in 2009 on Herve's Cheap Thrills Label.
“Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed” is one of Andre's favourite quotes. That's why he feels so natural to use samples, mash-up tracks and explore other music to create new sounds, groovy things and pumpin' beats, without a single style to impress your ears.
Higly supported by Pete Tong, which assonance with the tune name is critical, Peep Thong soon became an amazing club hit.
The distorted synth riff is sampled from a 1979 song: The Second Time Around by Shalamar, listen carefully at 3:07 min.
