Club Dogo - "Cronache di Resistenza"

Hey hey! Wow!



I just discovered the original music sample used by Club Dogo in Cronache di Resistenza published on MI Fist album, released in 2003.
It was a great album, and this track was a great piece of italian hip-hop music.



The song sampled Giving Up by Gladys Knight and the Pips
an early pre-Motown release written in 1964.



In 2005 this song was sampled also by: Mathematics on "Can I Rise" (feat. Hot Flamez)

Amon Tobin - "Four Ton Mantis"

Today we are going to dig the whole last century...are you ready for this?

Starting with one of the most interesting artist of mid-90's, Amon Tobin, and his Four Ton Mantis, included in Supermodified album in the year 2000.



Genius of noise manipulation and uncompromising musical auteur, he took the concept of sampling to a next level: he didn't just sample old song, in his last albums, such as Foley Room(I personally love "Always") and Chaos Teory - Splinter Cell OST, he created song using audio sample of street and mechanical noise.



This song contains a sample taken from the intro part of (Hall of the) Mad Mountain King by Apollo 100, released in 1971.



Apollo 100's track parody a classical song: In the hall of the Mountain King by the norvegian composer Edvard Grieg written 1876.



And, I don't know why but it reminds me the Inspector Gadget cartoon theme! That's sound crazy!

His Majesty Andre - "Peep Thong"

Let's start the new year with a smashing club track!
Thanks to Ewoud, a WhoSampled.com submitter, today we are talking about Peep Thong by His Majesty Andre, released in 2009 on Herve's Cheap Thrills Label.



“Nothing is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed” is one of Andre's favourite quotes. That's why he feels so natural to use samples, mash-up tracks and explore other music to create new sounds, groovy things and pumpin' beats, without a single style to impress your ears.

Higly supported by Pete Tong, which assonance with the tune name is critical, Peep Thong soon became an amazing club hit.



The distorted synth riff is sampled from a 1979 song: The Second Time Around by Shalamar, listen carefully at 3:07 min.

Kidda - “Under The Sun (Herve’s Ain’t No Sunshine Mix)”

Kidda was completely unknown to us until we heard Hervé’s remix of the second single off his album Going Up published on Skint Records.

The track is konwn as “Under The Sun (Herve’s Ain’t No Sunshine Mix)”



This song contains a vocal sample taken from You're All I Need to Get By by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell published on Motown Records (1970).

Kudu - "Bar Star"

Kudu is a great and interesting band from Brooklyn, NYC. In 2005 they released Bar Star, toghether with the amazing following super8 videoclip...



This song can be considered as a tribute to Sheila E, best known for her collaboration with Prince.
Kudu's singer says the phrase "Love Bizarre" in the first bridge which is also a Sheila E song, and the video reminds me "The Glamorous Life" Sheila E.'s video, from which I think they sampled the intro synth part...

Uffie - "Pop the glock"

She's young, she's sooooo sexy.... she's Uffie!
She said she was Ready to f*ck and, sooooooon got pregnant! WoOoOoOoOoW!

Let's talk about her first single Pop the glock.



It was first released in 2006 on Ed Banger Records, produced by Mr.Oizo and Feadz, her boyfriend at that time.

On october 2009 it was re-released as an EP, as a promotional release for her upcoming album Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans that will be out in early 2010.
A music video was released on October 3, 2009 and was directed by Nathalie Canguilhem.



This song samples the intro drum riff and quote most part of lyrics and flow of Top Billin' by Audio Two



Her latest single, "MC's Can Kiss" was leaked onto the internet on December 12, 2009 and will be officially released on February 1, 2010.
